Grasshopper imbibes in China!

LUPEC name: Grasshopper
How long have you been in LUPEC Denver?
Since 2003 – I’m one of the original founding members! 🙂
Why do you love being a LUPEC Denver girl?
I love the opportunity to hang out with cool chicks, try delicious (….usually) new drinks, and do stuff that helps the world around us.  Who wouldn’t want to be part of something so awesome?

What’s your favorite cocktail?
Right now, it’s probably a tie between the Old Fashioned and a Mint Julep.  Apparently I’m all about the bourbon in the summer, though I’m making them with Stranahan’s.

What’s you favorite Denver bar?
For cocktails that will amaze and delight, Colt & Gray.  For just hanging out with a big group of people, My Brother’s Bar.  Can’t beat the JCB.

If you could be a piece of barware, what would you be?
A jigger – gotta have balance in your life.

What’s your favorite garnish?
My homemade cocktail cherries.

What are you reading/watching/listening to?
I’m in the middle of Julia Alvarez’s In the Time of the Butterflies, and I’m spending a lot of time on the internet reading and trying out new recipes (for cocktails AND food).  Plus a lot of YA lit to get ready for next school year.

What’s your recipe?
Grasshopper
Glassware: Cocktail
Ingredients:

  • ¾ oz. cream
  • ¾ oz. Crème de Cacao
  • ¾ oz. Crème de Menthe

To Serve:  Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
A Thin Mint makes an excellent garnish for this delicious cocktail – it is the perfect dessert!
